Here are a few of my favorite items still working well in 2023!!! I use these items nearly daily for gaming and creating content for YouTube! This post includes paid links!
1. Toshiba Canvio Advance 2TB External Hard Drive, 3.0
I currently have three of these Toshiba External Hard Drives (paid link) to store images, files, and videos. I find them convenient for a plug-and-play storage solution.
2. KontrolFeek No-Slip Thumb Grips
My most recent purchase off of this list is the KontrolFreek Thumb Grips (paid link) and I should have bought these a LONG time ago!!! If you are into platforming games and have issues with the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller joystick, these add a ton of control and create worry-free gameplay.
Update 9/8/2023: After a couple of weeks of use I began to notice debris on the left side of my Pro Controller. I could not figure out what was going on or where it was coming from. At one point I went to the mirror to see if I had contracted the worst case of dandruff known to man. It wasn’t dandruff…the grip on the left stick is noticeably wearing and rubbing off material onto the controller. I tried to clean the grip with water (ONLY water) and it seemed to help in a way, but also seemed to remove the sheen of the grip. Not sure if this amount of wear is common but I can say that I am disappointed. Perhaps these grips are more temporary in nature and thus the multiples in the pack? Verdict is still out on the longevity of this product…
Update 9/23/2023: This product is now a strong DO NOT RECOMMEND. I tried another grip on the left stick to see if perhaps there was just something wrong with the one I originally used. The verdict is these grips simply rub the controller body when being used and this interference causes material to sheer away from the grip and cause debris. I believe this loose material could cause joystick failure if it ends up making it’s way into the joystick mechanism. The product started out like a dream and then shifted towards nightmare-ish…
3. Blue Yeti – Blackout Microphone
At the time of this post I have owned the Blue Yeti – Blackout Microphone (paid link) for right at two years! It is not known as the most high quality microphone, but it has been very reliable and with the FREE Logitech GHUB software I have been able to adjust settings to meet my needs.
4. Razer Ornata Chroma Keyboard
I had begun to wear the letters off of my former keyboard and decided to try the Razer Ornata Chroma (paid link). The keys on this keyboard are a bit noisy but I have not heard any of the noise come through to my recordings. I use the backlight as well as the wrist support and have found the keyboard to be reliable.
5. Razer Viper Mini PC Mouse
I received the Razer Viper Mini as a gift last December (2022) and it has truly been a great addition. I have been able to use the Razer Synapse software to program the mouse for various functions as needed. Again, the mouse is reliable and I am able to use it on my butcher board topped desk without a mouse pad.
